"It's a big adventure, it doesn't matter what experience i've got, i'm as new to it as anyone..."

-Yeah, you were saying you're a rookie at this race?

"Yeah i am, i've never done it, i've got the same information as available to everyone else and i can devour it and try to learn, well not learn every detail but be familiar with the route as much as i can but fundamentally i've got to pedal my bike up big mountains..."

( There are snowy mountain passes too where Josh will need to hike his bike and avoid mountain lions, mooses, wolves, bears and grizzlies...)

-Is it the scariest race you've ever done?

"Yeah, i'd say so, i don't even know if it's a race, i think if i had finished it and went back then it would be a race, it's like TCR (Transcontinental Race) when i first did it i had the same feelings as i have now, i didn't know what was coming, it's a whole new experience, when i was scared at the start, it was all about finishing it, obviously i kinda went as hard as i could but still, i've got similar feelings now, but when i went back in 2015 i knew i was gonna win it, because i had all that experience before and i just knew kinda deep down that that was what was gonna happen, not in a cocky way but for example James Hayden was ahead and i knew that he was not sustainable, i knew i was only one of the quickest but the most experienced of the relatively quick guys so therefore i knew that i had a pretty good shot of winning it if nothing went wrong. you know there's so much stuff you can't control, i feel like 2014 TCR now, i don't know anything that's coming up...And you can look at maps all you want but what it looks like on a map and what it looks like in real life are two very different things so i just need to finish it really. I just need to complete it and then i'll be happy. Number one is complete it and then i will be happy, number two is kind of a time frame, i think if i got under sixteen days, i'd be really happy but that's quite a quick time. Depends on conditions and everything really. I might get lucky and have an average ride and it might be super dry and super fast and i might get a fast time or i might do an amazing ride and it might be savage and it might take seventeen-eighteen days, you just don't know, or i might just smash it and win ha ha but i don't think that's gonna happen somehow not with the line up there is, i don't know exactly who's riding it but there's a bunch of people that have done it in less than sixteen days, i think there's a couple of guys who've even gone sub fifteen so the level is super high and it's very humbling."
